Koreografi Favela Vera Ortizin uusi kantaesitysteos FIGURE SOLAIRE sai ensi-iltansa Parrulaiturilla Helsingissä. Teos käyttää kaupunkia maisemana, johon teos kiinnittyy. Jokainen esityspaikka tuo oman erityisen tunnelman, ja toimii teoksen lavasteena. Esimerkiksi Parrulaiturilla Kalasatamassa betonilaiturin urbaani tunnelma yhdistyy merimaisemaan. Herttoniemen Kartanon puistossa vihreä, vehreä puisto loi erilaisen ympäristön.
FIGURE SOLAIRE viittaa hahmoon, joka kantaa sekä sisäistä ydintä että jotakin itseään suurempaa. Se on arkkityyppi, muisti ja energia, joka toistuu ja muuntuu. Teos ei esitä aurinkoa, vaan jälkiä, joita sen kaltainen voima jättää: kehoon, tilaan, ja liikkeeseen.
You could say the city of Helsinki is the other dancer in this work. The premiere was on a pier in Kalasatama, an area in Helsinki, Finland. The new solo work is choreographed by Favela Vera Ortiz and performed by Elina Valtonen. FIGURE SOLAIRE refers to a figure that carries both an inner core and something greater than itself. It is an archetype, a memory and an energy that repeats and transforms. The work does not represent the sun, but the traces of a force like it leaves: on the body, on space, on movement.
The choreographer Favela Vera Ortiz is dedicated to showcasing contemporary dance that pushes boundaries and inspires audiences. This performance is on tour in Helsinki in May 2026 using the city as a landscape and scenography for the work.
The tour continues in Espoo with three performances in Espoo City. Again, the locations give atmosphere and build a dialogue with the movement.
